With a perfect location on the Stonetown beachfront, Park Hyatt Zanzibar is within walking distance of many of the very best tourist attractions of the area. The city centre is a UNESCO Heritage site and plays host to a number of markets, mosques and gardens, all waiting to be explored. The Old Fort, the Peace Memorial Museum and the Palace Museum are all close to the hotel, as is the House of Wonders which exhibits Swahili and Zanzibari cultural artefacts.
The hotel occupies two buildings; the Mambo Msiige, a classical Zanzibari mansion with a history dating back to the 17th century; and the newly built Zamani Residence, which blends historical and contemporary elements. Guest rooms measure between 45 and 50sqm, have private balconies with stunning views and spacious bathrooms with separate bathtubs and rain-showers. Park View and Park Deluxe rooms enjoy the best views and overlook the Indian Ocean. The 11 luxurious suites measure from 100sqm, though the largest rooms are to be found in the Royal Residence and Zamani Presidential Suite, which measure 400 and 450sqm respectively, each occupying an entire floor of the hotel.
The Dining Room has a menu that draws on Arabian, Persian and Portuguese cuisine, utilising traditional grills and wood fired ovens and ingredients sourced from local farms and markets. The décor is grand and reminiscent of an Omani colonial home, with incredible views of the surrounding dhow harbour and Indian Ocean. The Pool Lounge serves speciality fish and seafood dishes, accompanied by western style sandwiches and salads; perfect for relaxing and enjoying the sun and beautiful views. The Living Room is the Zamani Residence lounge where light meals and snacks are served in a luxurious yet relaxed setting. The library has a veranda that overlooks the dhow harbour where guests can enjoy light lunches with tea, coffee, freshly squeezed juice, a wide selection of wines and cocktails, and glasses of champagne
The Anantara Spa has three large suites for massages and treatments, a private outdoor relaxation centre, a state-of-the-art fitness centre and a stunning 18 metre Infinity pool which is located on the beach front, allowing guests to switch from beach to pool with ease. There are a number of outdoor activities to be enjoyed, including rock climbing, golfing, culinary tours and photography walks.
