Location

Orpheus Island Resort is a newly renovated luxury resort located on a beautiful island in the Great Barrier Reef. The Great Barrier Reef is a World Heritage Site and acknowledged as one of the best locations for diving and snorkeling in the world. The resort is on the western-side of Orpheus Island along a tranquil beach.

Accommodation

The resort features 17 beachfront rooms, suites and villas, a main pavilion bar and dining area, a restaurant, a reading room, and an infinity pool overlooking the Coral Sea. Each suite and villa also has a private terrace with views over the Coral Sea. The Beachfront Villa is the only room type that accommodates 4 guests.

Dining

Dining with the Tides is the main restaurant of the resort. Unsurprisingly, the menu features a great deal of fresh seafood as well as vegetables grown in the resort’s own garden.

Cultural Heritage

Orpheus has a rich cultural heritage, dating back to the 1930s when the lodge was run with the assistance of local indigenous people. Today, the indigenous employees play an integral role in the daily operations of the lodge with their expert knowledge of the region. A tour of the culturally rich Palm Islands archipelago is recommended.

Getting There

The resort is 80km north of Townsville via 25 minute flight. Townsville airport (TSV) has frequent daily flights from most major hubs in Australia.

Weather / When To Go

April to November is the best time to visit the Great Barrier Reef. December to March can be uncomfortably hot and humid.
