Luacala is located in the Fiji archipelago and is the largest private island in the southern hemisphere. The resort is located on the northern coast of the island of Luacala with various hotel facilities occupying the rest of the island.
All 25 of the resort's villas are based on traditional Fijian homesteads and feature private beaches or outdoor dining areas. There are a number of different types of villa, from cliff-top villas with private beach access via a staircase; to over-water villas with private jetties. Villas have one, two or three bedrooms, all of which are very spacious. The largest of these is the Hilltop Villa, usually reserved for large families and special occasions, it occupies a massive 11,000sqm featuring three separate buildings and two private swimming pools.
There are five restaurants, including; the Plantation House, a replica colonial mansion providing optional al fresco fine-dining, gourmet meals, fresh-from-the-farm produce, and premium wines and cigars from the Plantation House Bar; Beach Bar, set right on the beach and serving grilled seafood and meat, as well as classic Fijian dishes such as kokoda; Pool Bar, resembling a giant shell and situated besides a 2,000sqm lagoon style swimming pool, serving fresh juices, coconut refreshments and vitamin shots; The Rock Lounge, overlooking Seagrass Bay, which serves tasty finger-food and cocktails; and Seagrass Restaurant, which has a four-tiered outdoor dining area serving a seasonal menu based on Asian influenced cuisine.
A 25-hole golf course and a number of sports facilities ensure that there is plenty to keep guests busy. Horse riding, rainforest walks, water-sports and farm visits are all possible either on the island itself, or on neighbouring islands. Four treatment villas, an outdoor tub, a relaxation room, two wet rooms, a beauty salon, pedicure and manicure rooms and the Spa Garden form the Spa & Wellness facilities on Luacala Island. Herbs, fruits and flowers are sourced from the gardens to provide distinct scents used in the spa rituals.
