Four Seasons Safari Lodge at Serengeti NP (formerly Bilila Kempinski Lodge) is a new contemporary African-style resort which was re-launched following Four Seasons’ take-over of Kempinski in late 2012.
The Lodge is located towards the centre of the Serengeti in the northwestern part of Tanzania close to Kenya, Lake Victoria, and the Ngorongoro crater. A world famous wildlife sanctuary and UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Serengeti covers 14,763 square kilometres of unspoiled African plains. This vast flat landscape is home to Africa’s largest year-round wildlife concentration and the park is acclaimed for having some of the best safari game drives in Africa. The Serengeti is the perfect location to experience the famous annual migration, in which more than two million wild animals are involved.
The Lodge offers 60 guest rooms, 12 suites, and 5 luxurious cottages with pools. The rooms have contemporary African décor, four-poster beds with mosquito netting, local textiles, artwork complemented by air conditioning, and high-speed Internet access.
Dining options include Kula’s Restaurant, featuring contemporary international and African dishes with influences from India and Cape Malay; Boma Grill, which has a circular seating plan around an open fire pit; and Maji Bar, which offers indoor/outdoor dining with an emphasis on simple organic food with an African touch. There is also Sandowner bar and Wine Room for wine tastings.
The Lodge Spa has six free-standing treatment pavilions, some of which include outdoor bathtubs. There is also a modern and well equipped fitness facility. The Lodge has a unique Discovery Centre which is an excellent place for learning about African culture and history. Last but not least daily safari drives into the Serengeti Park are offered by the Lodge. Guests can also arrange trips to the magnificent and wildlife abundant Ngorongoro Crater, the largest unbroken caldera in the world.
Kijana Kids Klub is housed in a dedicated area in the main building, and offers numerous activities designed to take advantage of the Serengeti's natural environment.
The lodge is a 50-minute drive from the Seronera Airstrip (SEU) which can be reached by a 50-minute flight from Arusha (ARK). Alternatively, it is possible to drive directly to the Lodge from Arusha (ARK). It is approximately an eight-hour drive, passing through the town of Karatu, the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Naabi Gate of the Serengeti National Park and then 50 minutes past the Seronera Airstrip
