Castell Son Claret is located close to the village of Es Capdella in western Mallorca and is found in the affluent province of Calvia at the foot of the Tramuntana Mountains, an area that was declared a UNESCO world-heritage site in 2011. Located by the slopes of Puig de Galatzo, the second highest peak of Mallorca, the hotel is surrounded by a lush Mediterranean landscape. The hotel has 325 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds which incorporate terraced pools around the castle.
Castell Son Claret has 38 rooms comprising 22 rooms and 16 suites. The castle-like main manor and the 8 houses and stables have been restored by the new owners who acquired the Castell in 2010. Some of the rooms and suites have private terraces or gardens, while two of the suites boast their own pools.
Madrid chef Fernando Perez Arellano has moved to the Castell and set up a new home for his Mallorcan restaurant Zaranda - the original outpost of which, in Llucmajor in the centre of the island, boasts a Michelin Star. A second, more informal restaurant, Olivera, serves lighter Mediterranean dishes inside or outside on the terrace; both restaurants use vegetables from the gardens and bread from the castle's own bakery. A chapel in the grounds now houses the Castell Bar.
Castell Son Claret is 40 minutes by car (35km) from Palma de Mallorca Airport (PMI) and 30 minutes from the city of Palma de Mallorca; 10 minutes by car from Puerto Portals.
