Location

Amangalla is situated in the town of Galle, in the old colonial era New Oriental Hotel once used by P&O steamship travelers on route from Europe to East Asia. Galle Fort is a 400-year-old walled former Dutch fort and now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. it is one of the most interesting sites in Sri Lanka and likely the most comfortable and luxurious accommodation in the country. Amangalla is not only a destination hotel but also a great base to explore southwestern Sri Lanka’s amazing countryside.

Accommodation

Spacious suites (classed as bedrooms, chambers and suites) at Amangalla overlook Galle Fort or its gardens. The living rooms and bathrooms, in hardwood and white, are large and comfortable. The two-story Garden house features a private terrace and balcony with views of the surrounding trees. Chamber Rooms in the Church Street Wing offer the most comfort and best views of the Fort, the square with Para Mara trees, and the old Reformed Church.

Dining

Featuring high ceilings and chandeliers, The Zaal restaurant offers indoor or outdoor dining on the terrace. The Dining Room serves traditional Sri Lankan and European cuisine in the atmosphere of a bygone era, with white-clothed tables and sparkling silverware while guests are kept cool by colonial style ceiling fans.

Leisure

A large swimming pool, surrounded by palms, is located in the resort’s gardens. The pool courtyard has several wooden sun lounges and five shaded 'ambalamas', or rest pavilions. There is also The Baths, the resort’s relaxing, holistic Spa.
