Location

The Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam  housed in beautiful historic 17th century palace  that runs alongside the Herengracht canal is  situated in a first class location at the heart of one of the city’s most historic districts .  The hotel is equally well placed to enjoy Amsterdam’s prized cultural offerings, with the Hermitage Museum, Magere Brug, Stopera Theatre and Opera House all a short walk from the hotel as it is for those interested in in the city’s  luxury shopping with the Utrechtsestraat, Amsterdam’s prime shopping street, being,  a mere  1km away. The picturesque   Vondelpark is also easily accessible from the hotel. While the concierge service can arrange private cars or taxis for guests, there are a number of alternative and typically Dutch transport options for guests to enjoy (not least various bike and boat tours).

Accommodation

King rooms measure between 35 and 50sqm and are available as Deluxe, Loft, Grand Premier and Superior rooms, all of which have 42” televisions, state-of-the-art entertainment systems and luxurious bathrooms. Queen deluxe rooms have many of the same amenities, with the additional benefit of authentic 17th century ceiling decorations and original fireplace mantles. King Suites measure 65sqm and either have a single combined living/sleeping area for an ultra-spacious feel, or  separate living rooms and bedrooms. Backer and Roell Suites feature luxurious bathrooms with built in TVs, spacious and elegantly decorated rooms, and picturesque views of the canal. The Van Loon and Brentano Suites are the largest available at the Waldorf, measuring 101 and 123sqm respectively, the Van Loon  which is decorated in a Neo-Renaissance style, with expansive, bi-level living and sleeping areas even has direct access to the spa and pool ; while the Brentano Suite has its own  dining room with seating for up to 8 guests, living room, study and two bathrooms .  Many of the hotel’s rooms and suites enjoy exceptional views of the surrounding gardens. Canal view rooms can be specifically requested during the booking process.

Dining

Librije’s Zusje Amsterdam restaurant  which has 2 Michelin stars and offers beautiful views of the surrounding gardens, focuses on local specialities with an Asian influence, as well as signature Librije dishes. The stylish and luxurious Peacock Alley serves a wide selection of soups, sandwiches, salads and desserts, and hosts the Afternoon Tea at the Waldorf Astoria, all of which is overseen by chef Sidney Schutte. In the evening, the Vault Bar offeris fine wines, a wide range of spirits and the hotel’s stand-out Librije cocktails.

Leisure

The Guerlain Spa has 3 tranquil treatment rooms, a large indoor swimming pool, a modern fitness centre, a wooden sauna, a steam bath and direct access to the hotel’s gardens. Signature treatments include the Orchidée Impériale Prestige Treatment and the Fusion Experience, exclusively created for the Waldorf Astoria Amsterdam.
