Mandarin Oriental Munich is located in Munich’s Old Town near central Marienplatz and the elegant Maximilianstrasse, the city’s most luxurious shopping avenue. The building, which was originally constructed in 1880, has been owned and operated by the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group since 2000 and underwent substantial renovation in 2007. The hotel interiors are contemporary and incorporate elements of Asian design.
The hotel has 73 spacious guestrooms comprising 48 standard rooms (33-50sqm) and 25 suites (51-140sqm), two-bedroom suites (125-140sqm) and two Presidential Suites (120sqm and 325sqm). Some suites have private outdoor terraces which enjoy views over the city, while others overlook the Hofbräuhaus beer gardens.
There are six restaurants and bars at the Mandarin Oriental, including; the Michelin starred Mark’s restaurant, offering a French, Mediterranean-inspired menu by chef Simon Larese; BistroMO, which serves casual Asian and Mediterranean dishes; Mandarin Bar, where afternoon tea is served and cocktails are available; Rum Club, which is open for drinks and offers a fine selection of cigars and rums; China Moon Roof Terrace, located by the hotel’s rooftop pool and offering al fresco dining in the summer months; and Wooden Chalet, also located on the rooftop terrace and offering traditional Bavarian dishes.
There is a fully-equipped fitness centre, rooftop swimming pool and Finnish sauna. The hotel does not have a spa.
