Location:

Belmond Hotel das Cataratas is located in the Iguaçu National Park and overlooks 185,000 hectares of stunning tropical rainforest. The park is a UNESCO World Heritage site and the nearby Iguassu Falls, known to locals as Devil’s Throat, are considered one of the seven wonders of nature. The city of Foz do Iguaçu, which is located just 30 minutes from the resort, features a beautiful bird park and is the site of the Triple Frontier, where the borders of Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil meet at single point.

Accommodation:

Superior rooms measure 30sqm and have traditional Portuguese décor with original artwork by Brazilian artist Ludmilla de Montes. Deluxe rooms also measure 30sqm, but also benefit from incredible views across the Igassu Falls. Junior suites are decorated in a colonial style, measuring 35sqm and with a cosy living room and a writing desk. Cataratas suites offer the most luxurious accommodation, measuring an impressive 94sqm, with two elegantly designed bedrooms, each with its own bathroom, a separate living room and beautiful wood furnishings. All rooms and suites have wireless internet, a fully stocked minibar and luxury toiletries.

Dining:

Ipê Grill is located beside the pool and offers guests a relaxed dining experience, featuring a ‘gaucho’ style barbecue with tender meats, a wide selection of salads and both local and international dishes. Itaipu Restaurant serves a blend of Brazilian and international flavours and has a beautiful veranda overlooking the hotel grounds. Bar Tarobá serves cocktails and traditional Brazilian caipirinha, with live music played every evening.

Leisure:

The Cataratas Spa celebrates the energy of the Amazon, utilizing ingredients directly from the forests of Brazil. Treatments range from 30-minute Respite massages, which help to ease tension and unwind, to comprehensive 210-minute Rainforest Renewals, which provide head-to-toe care and include a manicure and pedicure. The hotel also has two pools, the largest measuring 310sqm. Guests are encouraged to explore the Iguassu National Park, which is accessible even after closing hours due to the hotel’s location within the park itself.
